Description
NYC Parks and Recreation seeks your participation to enrich our recreation facilities! Shape Up New York is a free fitness program for all ages and is looking for additional instructors at Metropolitan Pool Recreation Center. Volunteer opportunities are available for a variety of classes and activities, including aerobics, yoga and pilates. Volunteers must have some experience as a fitness instructor, and once accepted, will have the opportunity to shadow a current instructor before leading their own classes. This position offers a lot of flexibility and creativity for enthusiastic volunteers interested in giving back to their communities and addressing pressing health issues such as Diabetes and Obesity.
Requirements
Volunteers are required to undergo a background check and attend one day of training prior to starting. Classes are offered once a week for a six to eight week period.
