Position Description Group Leader PR-G is seeking a recent graduate or undergraduate to be a Group Leader, mentor and leader with high school students in our Rites of Passage program. RITES OF PASSAGE (ROP): combines exciting incentives, social activities and behaviors with educational activities. Participants in the ROP program are willing to commit at least ten hours per week towards the four values below. The ROP curriculum consists of Four Values: Personal Development, Martial Arts, Community Service Projects, and Hard Work. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage Participants. Ensure that items are prepared for program including, sign-in sheets, transportation passes and ID, camcorder (charged, downloaded and ready for new footage), Manage Meetings. Order and prepare meals, supplies, condiments, prepare ice breakers, agendas, Tracking. Track attendance Media. Ensure photos and video footage is taken at each session. Follow and update when necessary the program Manual. Use PR-G's database to coordinate the involvement of volunteer workshop facilitators and book workshop spaces. Plan and conduct orientations and other program related events. Track and manage participant's education using an attendance tracking system. Be a Mentor to students and provide resources/referrals for counseling and other services. Mentor. Take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing, one-to-one relationship. Serve as a positive role model and friend; build the relationship by planning and participating in activities together; strive for mutual respect; build self-esteem and motivation; and help set goals and work toward accomplishing them. Spend Evaluation. In tandem with the Education Coordinator, conduct staff and teen evaluations. Time Requirement: 3-6 hours during the work week and every Saturday from 11:30AM - 7:00PM. Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills A strong volunteer spirit and previous and or current Martial Arts training
