Help Support Salvation Army Community Programs - Be a Bellringer!

About this volunteer opportunity

Description
Salvation Army red kettles dot the city’s most trafficked corners—and seem to be just about everywhere. Bellringers have made countless appearances on both the big and little screen—Pheobe on Friends was just one personality to take a turn at a kettle. And ringers have even made a mark on seasonal tunes. Think of the classic “Silver bells.” For the first time in New York City, The Salvation Army will be launching a “Christmas in July” kettle effort to help meet the increasing needs of the community. Now more than ever, New Yorkers are turning to The Salvation Army for help. Together each quarter, nickel and dime dropped into a red kettle translates into 300,000 meals for the homeless, rent assistance, homeless services, and much, much more. In fact, kettle donations help fund 140 community and social services programs that the Army operates year round. When can you volunteer? July 13 - 18, 2009. A relatively short time commitment and flexible hours make bell-ringing ideal for volunteers with tight schedules.
