About this volunteer opportunity

Description

Get Ready, Get Set, Get Ready to Go!- Help Kids Prepare for Emergencies.

In September 2009, in partnership with the Department of Education and NYC Service, the Office of Emergency Management’s (OEM) Ready New York campaign launched its newest citywide program, Ready Schools.

Ready Schools is a component of OEM’s Ready New York for Kids program that brings presentations and hands-on activities to schools to educate children about the importance of being prepared for emergencies in their homes and communities.

You can help by volunteering to lead these presentations! Through Ready Schools, children learn the basic steps to be prepared and are encouraged to take the information they learn back to their families.

In many households young voices can be the catalysts of change and OEM and DOE want to help guarantee that the City’s children grow up as “Ready New Yorkers.”
