Saturday Tutor Teams!

Our Saturday Tutor Teams Program will be re-starting toward the end of October 2010! Please contact us now to set up a time to meet with us and start tutoring by the end of October.

The objectives of the Saturday Tutor Teams Program is to provide Dreamers with supplemental educational support through literacy, math and other activities to help strengthen and improve academic performance. We will create clear, measurable goals for each Dreamer, while monitoring progress through formal assessments, parent-teacher conferences and volunteer/student self reports.

As a volunteer in the program, you will be matched with an individual student with whom you will work with throughout the remainder of the school year. Lesson plans created by our Tutor Teams Coordinator focus on skills that the students must improve in order to be successful in school. All of the children in the Ravenswood "I Have a Dream" Program are entering the 7th and 8th grade. The position will also incorporate recreational interaction with the children but the main purpose is to provide academic assistance.

The tutoring will take place on Saturdays from 10:30-12:00. An orientation will be held on October 23, 2010 and tutoring will begin the following week. Please feel free to visit our website at www.ravenswoodihad.org for more information about the Ravenswood 2 "I Have a Dream" Program.

Only basic math and literacy skills are required for our projects. It is helpful, but not necessary, to have experience working with children in middle school. Training and supervision will be provided. You must be willing to make the commitment to work with the child for the remainder of the 2009-10 school year.
