Be A Rescue Squad Volunteer on Roosevelt Island

Roosevelt Island Search and Rescue Volunteers (RISAR) is looking for volunteers who would like to be part of an Emergency Services First Response unit on Roosevelt Island. Rescue Squad members will respond to Emergency Calls from the Roosevelt Island community, provide Basic Life Support (BLS) care until an ambulance arrives. Certification as a New York State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required for the initial person providing care. A NYS Driver's License is required to operate vehicles. Other members are REQUIRED to obtain CPR / AED and First Aid certification before being permitted to ride one of the Response Vehicles, HOWEVER, this training will be provided to RISAR members FREE OF CHARGE.
