English Conversation Group Facilitator

About this volunteer opportunity

Description

We Are New York (WANY) is a volunteer-led project that offers free English conversation groups to immigrant New Yorkers at community sites around the City. Since April 2010, WANY has helped over 4,000 volunteers practice English and learn about important city services by organizing over 500 conversation groups in all five boroughs.

WANY, a partnership between the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs and CUNY, is seeking dedicated volunteers as conversation group facilitators.

WANY provides a social, dynamic and community-oriented volunteer experience that offers volunteers who want to improve their neighborhoods  an opportunity to develop their leadership skills, interface with immigrant communities in New York, and gain an affiliation with the Mayor’s Office.
