Volunteer opportunity description

This winter season, NYC Service is assisting community-based organizations in mobilizing volunteers to help seniors and people with disabilities avoid accidents.

NYC Service will be acting as a referral entity – connecting interested volunteers with partnering organizations.

For Individual  Volunteers or (groups of volunteers):

For assistance, you can contact Michael Williams at or 212.676-3093 to be referred to an organization.  Please be ready to provide your contact information (telephone and email) and the neighborhood and borough you can serve as well as information about your snow removal equipment.

You are not required to have a shovel to participate. 

Disclaimer: We are recruiting volunteers to serve residents who are unable to comply with the law that requires them to clear their sidewalks after a snow storm. The City does not clear sidewalks in front of private homes, and homeowners are ticketed if they do not comply with the legal parameters.
