Volunteer opportunity description

As the largest food pantry in Brooklyn, BSCAH offers a host of vital services to the over 11,000 clients we serve a month. Our goal is not simply to provide people with a satisfactory amount of food but to empower our families- this is where you can help!

 We are looking for volunteers to fulfill numerous opportunities in our food pantry that reach beyond food provision and affect social change. You will be on the front lines of social justice and community empowerment. We have various opportunities available in our food pantry for the following positions:
 
Client Intake and Referral
Helping Customers Shop
Handing Out Produce
Customer Check-out

We have volunteer opportunities available for the following days and times:

 
Mondays, 9:30am - 3:30pm
Tuesdays, 9:30am - 3:00pm, 1:00 - 6:30pm
Wednesdays, 9:30am - 3:00pm, 1:00 - 6:30pm
 Thursdays,  9:30am - 3:30pm,
Fridays, 9:30am - 3:00pm, 1:00 - 6:30pm

Requirements

Be reliable and punctual; Interact with customers well; Communication skills; Be a team player; Engage in some physical lifting, stocking, etc. The position is not, however, labor-intensive; Work quickly and diligently; Must be able to speak English; Spanish, Haitian Creole or Mandarin speaker a plus, but not required
