Volunteer opportunity description

Work directly with a low-income job seeker for a year and make a sustainable impact on their life and career. The bulk of your time as a mentor will be in the first 3 months, where you will attend sessions with your trainee on Saturdays from 12:00-2:00pm (sometimes 4pm) at our PwC site, located on 300 Madison Avenue (at 42nd).

During this time you will be going through our structured curriculum with your trainee, helping them set career goals, create a resume (or improve an old one), practice writing cover letters, develop skills and confidence for interviews, learn about jobs in different industries, and create and deliver a PowerPoint presentation.

At the end of the 3 month period, trainees will produce a Work-Plan outlining their near and midterm goals. You will then continue to work with them on your own schedule (in person or over the phone) to ensure they accomplish their goals in their Work-Plan. During this time there will be Continued Professional Development workshops taking place once a month (typically Saturday afternoons) at various locations that StreetWise Partners will organize.
