Harlem RBI Seeks Volunteers to Play, Learn, Grow!

 REAL Kids (Reading and Enrichment Academy for Learning) Summer Program is a six-week academic, enrichment and sports experience for youth in grades K-1. The REAL Kids Program provides structured academic, enrichment and sports programming in a safe, supportive and engaging environment. This multi-disciplinary approach provides academic activities that improve youths’ literacy skills, enrichment activities that develop positive social and emotional skills such as teamwork, and baseball/softball team membership that promotes physical well-being and further opportunities to develop social. 

Real Kids Evaluations week is the time when our youth are evaluated based on reading level and baseball/softball skills to determine placement. Evaluations occur in groups and consist of interactive reading sessions and baseball/softball skills assessment.

In order to effectively evaluate 350 youth, we need your help! Volunteers will be paired with and assist Harlem RBI staff in the following:

·  Keeping kids occupied while they are waiting to be assessed for reading (games, books, etc.)

·  Ushering kids back and forth between the field and assessment offices

·  Greeting parents and kids as they arrive

·  Running or assisting with baseball stations on the RBI Field
