Volunteer opportunity description
We need volunteers to help set up and then take down the stage areas on the day before and day of the festival (9/29 and 9/30/12). Some physical exertion is required. Some volunteers will help experienced volunteers set up prefab backdrops and others will assist in unloading hay bales from a truck for seating at ten stage areas, and loading hay bales back on the truck at the end of the festival Sunday evening.
Set up will occur on Saturday Sept. 29th from 10AM to 4PM, and on Sunday Sept. 30th from 6:30PM to 9PM. You can volunteer for all times or part of the time on any day.
All our volunteers get a lunch and use of costumes during the festival.
Fort Tryon Park is located in Upper Manhattan and is easily reached via the A train to 190th Street--take the elevator up and you are in the park! The Park surrounds the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Cloisters Museum.
Requirements
Ability to lift 30 pound hay bales. Some basic construction or carpentry skills are a plus (especially on Saturday) but not required.
