Volunteer opportunity description
Come help Staten Island shine! Joining Gateway National Recreation Area for the Staten Island portion of the5 Borough Cleanup Saturday, October 13, 2012. Pitch in by helping maintain the Greenway around Staten Island. From the Staten Island Ferry, you can choose to bike to the cleanup site with an REI guide, or take a park service shuttle. Lunch, tools and gloves will be provided. There will be opportunities to win REI prizes, participate in REI Outdoor School mini-classes and learn a little bit more about Gateway National Recreation Area. Once you register, a week prior you will recieve an email with more specific details. Please wear close toed shoes, long pants and bring plenty of water and sunscreen and be ready to have a fantastic time!
