Volunteer opportunity description
The People Living with AIDS Project
Food, friends and fellowship for people living with HIV/AIDS.
People Living With AIDS The PLWA Project was founded in 1987 to provide a weekly meal for parishioners and their loved ones affected by AIDS. Today our Saturday Evening Suppers serve 60-70 guests each week from all over the city. As far as we know, the PLWA Project is the only dinner program of its kind that operates on the weekends in lower Manhattan.
Guided by a trained chef, volunteers will work in tandem to create delightful, gourmet meals for our parishioners who participate in the program.
The day of service is broken into two shifts: 12PM-3PM = First Shift = food prep and cooking. 3:45PM-6PM = Second Shift = table set up/serving and clean up.
To volunteer for the PLWA project, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for wanting to join us!
Potential volunteers are asked to commit to serving for 3 months. While this does not mean that you have to come every Saturday, we do expect that volunteers will at least perform cooking services once a month.
