Description & History
The New York Foundation for Senior Citizens' Ombudsman Program volunteers protect the rights of nursing and adult home residents throughout New York City's five boroughs. Volunteers are trained by the program's staff to become New York State Certified Ombudsmen and are placed in nursing and adult homes to receive and resolve complaints by working with the residents and staff. Prospective volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, participate in a training program and commit to a minimum of four hours per week and one year of volunteerism.
