Description & History

The Rape Crisis Program offers crisis counseling, advocacy and support for victims of sexual assault. Trained volunteers are on-call to the emergency departments at St. Vincent's Manhattan and New York Downtown Hospitals. Our experienced trauma therapists provide short-term individual and group counseling services to rape and childhood sexual abuse survivors and their allies. We also provide prevention education programs for high school and college age groups, and training programs for police, medical, and social service agency personnel. Supplementary programs, such as an acupuncture clinic, art therapy, writing groups, movie nights, and reiki treatments are offer periodically.
