The women we serve: ? Dress for Success Worldwide operates three branches in New York City located in Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx.

? We offered our program services to 4,503 women throughout the five boroughs in 2008.

? Over half of these women (57%) receive public assistance.

The low-income, underserved, and under-represented women that Dress for Success supports encounter multiple barriers to employment.

Some of these barriers include a lack access to technology and professional skills training, financial literacy, and a higher education.

In addition to those barriers, many of the jobs available to these women are in low wage industries that offer no benefits and little or no chance for advancement.

Dress for Success Worldwide helps women overcome these barriers and challenges.

? 44% of the Bronx clients are African American and 45% are of Latino Heritage.

How we work: Dress for Success provides each woman with a business suit when she has a job interview.

When she successfully lands the job, she returns to Dress for Success for up to one week?s worth of business-appropriate separates.

She also receives an invitation to join the Professional Women?s Group, our career development and networking group, and participate in other employment retention programs such as the Career Center, mentoring and career fairs.

Dress for Success, Bronx Branch serves job-ready women by referral from more than 70 non-profit organizations including domestic violence agencies, homeless shelters and job-training programs.
