Description & History

Education The Literary Freedom Project presents professional-development workshops that focus on the crucial need for reading and expository writing skills as essential elements for increased cultural identity, vocational prospects, and educational opportunities. LFP also coordinates the placement of teaching artists in schools and out-of-school-time (OST) venues for youth as well as parents.

Our print publication, Mosaic Literary Magazine supplements its editorial content with lesson plans that are developed based on the content of Mosaic. The lesson plans, which are developed for secondary school educators, demonstrate how Mosaic?s content can serve as a connective tool to explore subjects such as history and social studies while also serving to increase the importance of books and reading. Education Programs The Mosaic Literary Conference provides a platform for literature-based creative thinking and knowledge sharing. Click here for additional information.

Mosaic Literary Magazine Launched in 1998, Mosaic is a quarterly magazine exploring the literary arts, and serves as an important resource for readers, educators, and librarians interested in writers of the African Diaspora. www.mosaicmagazine.org
