Description & History

Have Art: Will Travel! Inc. (HAWT), through collaborative associations with arts professionals and experts, addresses core issues of Peace and Equality by focusing on the causes and effects of oppression, especially sexism, racism and homophobia. HAWT prides itself on its status as a laboratory of social change opening dialogue by soft power presentations not necessarily approached by traditional means. In its multifaceted and interdisciplinary approach to communication, it supports exhibitions, readings, videos, performances and other cultural events that are dedicated to the development and growth of gender and empowerment issues, reaching a diverse national and international audience. Events are staged at The Art Club in Tribeca (lower Manhattan) as well as on location at other venues, such as schools, galleries, community centers and theatres. HAWT is a non-profit corporation with tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) status, supported, in part, by contributions and grants from individuals, foundations and corporations.
