Description & History
FACES is a community-based organization that provides HIV/AIDS education and outreach, legal advocacy and representation,case management, substance abuse services and referral, food and nutrition programs, GED preparation, recreational activities and supportive housing to people living with HIV and AIDS and their families. FACES was founded in Harlem in 1985 and has remained committed to meeting the needs of the community. Its first and long-standing program is the weekly Dinner Program, where people living with HIV/AIDS are provided with a nutritious meal and opportunities for recreation and socialization. Its most recent project is an independent living housing program for women affected/infected by HIV/AIDS with children.
