Description & History

The Riverdale YM-YWHA is a multi-generational agency providing informal education, leisure time activities, and social services to meet the recreational, social, and cultural needs of the Jewish and the general community.

The Y (originally called the YM-YWHA of the Bronx) has served its community in various locations throughout the borough since 1909. The Y has always worked to strengthen Jewish identity, family life and survival, while reinforcing Jewish cultural values and enriching the life of the Jewish community, and society as a whole.

The services, programs, and facilities of the Y are available to all residents of the community regardless of race, color, religion, or sex.

Programs include a nursery school, after-school program for children from local public and private schools, resident theater companies (children, teens, and adults), cultural performances, a state-of-the-art fitness center and indoor pool, fitness classes, an art studio overlooking the Hudson River, and a senior citizens center and social adult day care program for adults with dementia.
