Organization Details

The Harmony Program began as a pilot program in the New York City Mayor's Office and was later incorporated as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. This year the Harmony Program entered into a formal relationship with the City University of New York (CUNY).

Harmony now recruits college students from CUNY schools and places them in after-school instrumental music programs in nearby public schools. Participating CUNY students receive training, observation/evaluation, and hourly stipends for their teaching services, while participating children receive musical instruments, daily instruction, books, supplies and cultural experiences...all entirely free of charge.
