Queens Pride House provides a drop center with staff who are available to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons with health, social service and legal referrals and provides a library, lounge, and internet accessible computer terminals.
Queens Pride House conducts educational forums and does educational outreach on health issues that affect the community.
At the beginning of every June we conduct a Queer Cultural Festival with Theatre, Art and Poetry.
The center is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from afternoon till evening.
Organizational History: Queens Pride House was established in Queens Borough Hall in 1997 and moved to Woodside in 2001.
In 1999 we obtained our 501c3 and proceeded to raise funds and apply for grants in order to hire staff and advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) sensitive services for the LGBT Queens resident.
In 1999 Queens Pride House conducted the first comprehensive needs assessment of Queens LGBT residents.
In 2002 Queens Pride House won a five year grant from the New York State Department of Health to conduct a health referral program to Queens residents.
Queens Pride House also receives funding from the NYC Department of Health and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
Queens Pride House opened a legal clinics in 2003 and 2005 to provide low cost or free legal services to LGBT residents.
Queens Pride House also houses or sponsors various LGBT social and cultural events.
