Description & History

Family Enhancement Services of SCO Family of Services provides a continuum of intensive clinically oriented interventions that work with parents to reestablish, maintain and strengthen their relationships with their children.

All of these programs work toward the same goal - fostering healthy attachment between children and parents as a protective factor in preventing child abuse and neglect.

As a result of these programs, families are strengthened; risk factors associated with child maltreatment are reduced; quicker and more accurate permanency decisions are achieved; reentry into foster care is reduced; and early learning skills for parents and children are promoted.

SCO Family of Services (SCO) is a multi-service community based organization established in 1895.

Today, SCO works to promote positive outcomes for infants, young children, adolescents, adults and families through a comprehensive range of neighborhood-based family and social services in three primary communities -- Sunset Park Brooklyn, Central Brooklyn and Northwest Queens.

These services include Family Counseling, Schools and School-Based Programs, Youth and Adult Employment Services, Community Services and Early Childhood Services and Foster Care. SCO also serves adults with special needs, as well as children, youth and families in crisis through an array of foster homes, residential campuses, group homes and homeless shelters across the Bronx, Queen, Brooklyn, Nassau and Suffolk Counties. (A full history of the agency can be found at www.sco.org).
