Description & History

The services that 6,000 RSVP volunteers provide reflect the rich diversity and challenges of New York City.   RSVP volunteers are everyday heroes making a difference in the lives of others.

RSVP volunteers contribute their lifetime of experience to 500 agencies throughout the five boroughs of New York City including nonprofit organizations, libraries, schools, nursing homes, museums, soup kitchens, and hospitals.

RSVP volunteers serve NYC in many ways including:

Teaching children and newly arrived immigrants to read.

Developing a marketing plan for a nonprofit organization.

Preparing food in soup kitchens.

Making friendly visits to nursing home residents.

Leading tours in museums.

And so much more!
