Description & History

For 146 years, Brooklyn Community Services has helped children reach their potential, families become stronger, and adults lead productive, fulfilling lives. We offer a diverse array of social services including vocational training and job placement; social support and mental health services for persons with disabilities; and child welfare and family support services such as foster care prevention, homemaker services, and group and family day care services. We believe that each human being has the right to live a life of dignity, and can contribute uniquely to our shared society. Over the years, we have strengthened countless families at risk of separation; supported and stabilized people with psychiatric illnesses; helped adults with disabilities participate fully in the community; enabled people to move from welfare to work; and offered guidance, education and support to children. We celebrate the strength of the human spirit. Our vision is of a Brooklyn where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to our community.
