Description & History

Every day the Computer Resource Centers bridge the “Digital Divide” by providing members of the communities we serve with classes on how to use the Internet, word processing, web design, desktop publishing and much more. We offer specialized programming for youth, teens, seniors, and adults, including multimedia and workforce training classes. Children visit the CRCs afterschool for homework help and grade-appropriate projects; teens learn digital photography, video, and graphic design through our RECYouth progam; seniors develop internet research skills to facilitate communication and locate resources; and adults practice a wide variety of computer skills for creative, personal, and professional purposes. Volunteers and partnerships provide critical support through class instruction, outreach, and room monitoring. Through our joint efforts, New York City residents build the technology knowledge they need to overcome the digital divide and pursue greater opportunities in their lives.
