Description & History
We believe that residents are uniquely situated to define and act on the issues affecting their communities. We provide seed money, training, and project implementation assistance to hundreds of volunteer-based resident groups in New York City. Our grants are available to volunteer organizations with or without 501c3 status, to support community improvement projects in the five boroughs.
Citizens Committee for New York City began in 1975, in an effort to mobilize New Yorkers to volunteer to fill government positions that would have been left vacant by the financial crisis. Throughout our history, we have provided grants, training, and assistance to hundreds of volunteer groups working to improve their building, block, or neighborhood throughout the five boroughs.
