Description & History
BedStuy Campaign Against Hunger is a non-profit organization, working vigorously to end hunger in the Bedford-Stuyvesant / Brownsville / Ocean Hill neighborhoods of Brooklyn. We are located in Community Board Districts 3 and 16 in Brooklyn.
BedStuy Campaign Against Hunger serves this community by offering emergency food, and other social services including Food Stamp screenings, fitness classes and enrollment for publicly-supported health insurance.
BedStuy Campaign Against Hunger is unique amongst the food pantries in Brooklyn, because it is a "supermarket style" pantry. Inspired by West Side Campaign Against Hunger, our "supermarket style" pantry allows customers to select for themselves both fresh fruits and vegetables and food items from the pantry shelves, instead of receiving a pre-packaged pantry bag. Each month approximately 10,000 community residents receive enough food for nine (9) nutritious meals from our program. waiting in the food pantry waiting area We are open five days a week, Monday-Friday with extended evening hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays to accommodate the full-time, yet still underemployed, customers who visit our pantry.
