Description & History

ACT has participated in major community-based projects such as the One-City, One-Community Project, a neighborhood-based initiative to improve coordination of city government services.

ACT also established and operates Bushwick IMPACT (Informing More Parents Across the Community Together), a family resource center offering and promoting early learning, family literacy and parent involvement in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

ACT continues to support the NYC Administration for Children?s Services? (ACS) Community Partnership Initiatives in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, East New York/Brownsville, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Bushwick.

We recently helped ACS to implement the Immigrant Community Partnership Initiative, a pilot project to connect new immigrant communities to child welfare services.

In addition, ACT has collaborated with ACS?s Office of Youth Development, assisting in the development of a Youth Advisory Board.

ACT also works independently to decentralize and increase the responsiveness of public and private service providers to neighborhoods and to advocate for policies that will improve conditions for families throughout the City.
