Washington, D.C. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) will conclude “AmeriCorps Week” with a day of service in Rockaway, NY. This event will not only honor the effort of relief workers so far, but will highlight the work that still needs to be done.

As an Assistant Volunteer Liaison, NYC Civic Corps Member Lauren Mattina explains, “I am involved in the entire recruiting and training process so it’s really rewarding to see the positive changes taking place throughout the program because it shows that our hard work is paying off.”

The cool roof at PPPL was downright chilly when two representatives from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s NYC °CoolRoofs program came to visit the Laboratory recently. But the meeting itself was warm and could lead to a partnership between the city group, PPPL and Princeton.

NYCitizenship in Schools will Help Eligible Parents of Students in New York City Public Schools Apply for U.S. Citizenship

The Task Force was created to develop comprehensive, interagency approaches that call on all members of the community to work together to make sure that students are staying in school. The "Every Student, Every Day" campaign launched a set of pilot initiatives at a total of 50 elementary, middle, and high schools across all five boroughs. These schools were selected by the Department of Education (DOE) and the Task Force based on above-average chronic absenteeism rates and strong school leadership.
