Who Are NYC VISTA Summer Associates?

Summer Associates are committed individuals who are passionate about service and interested in social justice issues. These individuals spend eight weeks (56 days) making a major impact on communities in New York City. Summer Associates come from all walks of life—they see service as a tool to bridging the gaps between the haves and the have-nots.

NYC VISTA Summer Associate Benefits

  • Modest living allowance of $2,349 (pre-tax) distributed evenly throughout the term
  • Unlimited Monthly MetroCard
  • Eli Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, valued at $1,230.69 or End-of-Service Cash Stipend, valued at $230.16, upon successful completion of service

NYC VISTA Summer Associate Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or legally residing in the United States
  • High school diploma
  • Interest in Education and/or Environment/Healthy Futures
  • Agree to undergo a Background Check, per VISTA or programmatic requirements
  • A strong motivation for making a difference
  • Willingness to learn new skills and improve upon existing ones
  • Availability between June 19 and August 13, 2017
