ABOUT NYC COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CORPS

NYC Community Schools Corps, an AmeriCorps program launched in partnership between NYC Service and the NYC Department of Education's Office of Community Schools, places corps members at Community Schools in high-need neighborhoods to serve as Success Mentors, with a focus on decreasing chronic student absenteeism and strengthening student academic achievement. 

NYC Community Schools Corps Member Benefits

  • Living allowance of up to $14,300 (pre-tax) for approximately 10 months of service

  • Basic medical plan will be available at no cost to Civic Corps members.

  • $5,815 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon completion of the program

NYC COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CORPS MEMBER SPECIFICS

  • Must be a U.S. Citizens, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident of the united States

  • Have attained a Bachelor’s degree.

  • Have experience working with children or in a school, preferable.

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

  • Ability to serve full-time (40-45 hours/week) or half-time (20-25 hours/week).

  • Ability to serve a minimum of 1,700- service hours (FT) or 900- service hours (HT) during the 10-month term of service.
