Volunteer opportunity description

Under general direction and supervision, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for independently conducting the recruitment and management of the volunteers.

  • Recruit volunteers ensuring they are appropriately matched and trained for a position

  • Researching and writing volunteer policies and procedures

  • Generating appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the event in collaboration with the Administration Lead

  • Organizing rosters and providing inductions and training

  • Monitoring, supporting, motivating and accrediting volunteers and their work

  • Celebrating volunteering by nominating volunteers for awards and organizing celebration events

  • Collaborating with the Event Coordinator to organize profile-raising events to attract new volunteers

  • Keeping up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and making any necessary modifications to accommodate changes

  • Working with multiple agencies across different sectors in order to establish good working

  • Troubleshoot activities the day of the events


  • Volunteer must bring own laptop to work on assigned tasks

  • Internet, Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent communication skills  Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently as part of a team

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality  Commitment to high standards, customer service, integrity, and ethics

  • Strong desire to want to improve our community and the quality of life for the homeless children we serve
