Volunteer opportunity description

Today, as small enterprises resume operations, many small business owners across industries are asking what social distancing will mean for their business operations. For many, preparing their business to provide a safe place for their customers and employees has been paramount. Our in-house research suggests that small businesses – dental care practices, health clubs, daycare centers, and other storefronts – are preparing for disruption in their business. At the same time, they are struggling to operate in a 'new normal' due to a lack of understanding and resources to implement new protocols on meeting social distancing.

Keeping this in mind, we are planning to increase the number of online resources on our website, focusing on the best practices of doing business in a new normal. We are creating a series of COVID-19 Toolkits, focusing on how small business owners can come up with creative solutions to bring back customers. Our toolkit will focus on providing timely information on the rapidly changing safety guidelines, sharing best practices and innovative solutions, and information on relevant resources.

We need volunteers who can conduct secondary research on best practices, write, and edit. We are open to creative ideas on how the toolkit can be designed. It is really about creating these resources as soon as possible and make them available to everyone.

The COVID-19 crisis underscores the need to provide round-the-clock access to information, as we all find new ways to cope with the restrictions and family obligations. We are taking action by sending our regular emails with information.

We are posting relevant resources and information on our website and scheduling informational webinars. We know that women entrepreneurs are struggling to find new ways to serve their customers while observing social distancing requirements. We are working round-the-clock to help connect women entrepreneurs with those who have found successful strategies and are establishing the new best practices for this 'new normal' economy.

Yet, the demand for information is so high that we see the need to provide information as soon as possible. We need to collect stories on best practices, how small business owners are coping with the crisis, and share successful tips with women.

We have already finalized six topics. We plan to create a toolkit on each topic. The volunteer will work directly with a full-time employee who comes with more than 15 years of experience in creating and designing capacity building programs.

Every toolkit will be made available on our website. We are also building our social media channels. The toolkits will be available on these channels too.

Volunteers will work with a small team who have created capacity building programs earlier. They will learn how to develop toolkits and training materials.

Since the project requires secondary research, they will learn industry best practices.

Interested volunteers will be an integral part of the team, working closely with the project lead. This project will be a great learning opportunity for anyone willing to conduct research and create training modules for women small business owners.
