Volunteer opportunity description

Do you love Kindle Fires? Do you love using Alexa? Do you love using Alexa on your Kindle Fire?
And are you interested in helping older adults do the same?

Then this virtual volunteer position is for you!

Search and Care is an NYC nonprofit helping seniors age safely in place. Our "Silver Circles" senior computer education program provides one-on-one and group sessions to help older men and women use technology. Most recently, our Kindle Fire Initiative is loaning Kindle Fires to older adults to help them get connected, particularly to combat isolation resulting from COVID-19.

Our Silver Circles connectivity team is in search of avid Kindle enthusiasts who would like to help older adults learn how to use them for the first time. Knowledge/interest in teaching and using Alexa to seniors is preferred, however, we welcome all Kindle coaches!

* Must be at least 18 years old with a valid SSN (background check required)

* Knowledge of Kindle Fire usage/setup - use of Alexa on Kindle encouraged/preferred

* Interest and care in working with older adults and technology

* Availability during the hours of Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM

* Ability to set appropriate boundaries if/when necessary

* Patience, reliability, and a positive attitude!

To apply for this position, please email Tegan Rein (rein@searchandcare.org) and Michelle Carr (carr@searchandcare.org), Connectivity Coordinators. In your email, please write a paragraph (e.g. 4-5 sentences) expressing why you are interested in this position.
