Volunteer opportunity description

You can make a difference in the lives of seniors as a DOROT Teen Intern.

Each school year DOROT welcomes high school students in 9th through 12th grade to receive high-quality training and supervision while volunteering with older adults. This is a unique opportunity for ongoing community service that meaningfully connects teens with seniors one afternoon per week for either the Fall or Spring semester through friendly phone calls, intergenerational teen-led discussion groups and creative arts programming.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to ensure the health and safety of all of our participants, the DOROT Fall Teen Internship Program 2020 will operate as a virtual program. Join us by zoom or telephone from the safety of your own home to make a real difference in the lives of older New Yorkers!

There is NO CHARGE for participation in DOROT’s Teen Internship Programs.

Time Commitment: Interns volunteer one afternoon per week, Monday through Thursday. The Fall semester begins in early October and ends the week of December 14th.
