Volunteer opportunity description
Search and Care, a 49-year-old Upper East Side nonprofit that works to help older adults remain safely and comfortably independent, would love to have you as part of our Connectivity Team.
Our agency’s "Silver Circles" older adult computer education program provides one-on-one and group sessions to help older men and women use technology. Due to COVID-19, these sessions are currently conducted entirely remotely (over the phone or via video chat).
We seek virtual computer coaches who can help remotely with one or more of the following:
One-On-One Computer Coaching: helping older adults through one-on-one remote sessions (telephonic and/or via video chat) with learning how to use their devices - computers, tablets, smartphones, etc. - in whatever ways fit each client's needs and interests
Group Assistance: helping older adults connect to our remote groups (both telephonic and via video chat) by helping them understand how to connect to groups, being available during the time of a group to assist one or more clients to get connected, as well as guiding them if they get kicked out of a group or have technical difficulties while participating.

Please note: We are flexible with whatever time you will be available to coach. We are even open to weekend coaching upon request!
Requirements
* Must be at least 18 years old with a valid SSN (background check required)
* Interest and care in working with older adults and technology
* Availability during the hours of Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM (Evenings and weekends are available on request)
* Ability to set appropriate boundaries if/when necessary
* Patience, reliability, and a positive attitude!
(Bilingual English/Spanish-speaking a plus)
