Volunteer opportunity description

Many Venezuelans left Venezuela due to political turmoil, socio-economic instability, and the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Led a helping hand to Venezuelan asylum seekers in Brooklyn by:

. Sorting and assisting with winter clothes distribution to asylum seekers. 

. Accompanying and teaching asylum seekers twice a week how to take public transportation to and from TLC Shelter (East NY) to our Education Center (Sunset Park). 

Requirements

. Fluent in Spanish

. Must be 21 years old or older 

. Must be willing to teach and accompany asylum seekers to ride the subway from TLC Shelter (East NY) to and from our Education Center (Sunset Park). 

. Experience with interpretation/translation of Spanish/English 

. Experience with leading groups of five or more people

. Passionate about social justice advocacy. 

 

When will the volunteers be needed 

. Morning and afternoon during the week 

. Approximately two hours per lesson
