Volunteer opportunity description
Our mission is to help New York City public school students succeed by training volunteers to provide individualized, instructional, and other school-based support, and by equipping parents to foster their children's educational development.
We currently have opportunities available for the following volunteer positions:
Elementary Tutor: work with students in grades Pre-K-5 in reading, writing, math, social studies, or sciences
Middle School Tutor (Classroom Coach): work with students in grades 5-8 in reading, writing, math, social studies or sciences
General School Support: provide support in a non-academic setting such as the cafeteria, library, recess, office, or hallway.
Students gain academic knowledge, but also confidence, self-determination and proof of their own potential. Volunteers treasure the opportunity to make a lasting contribution, far beyond the classroom. Teachers value a trusted partner in their classroom who gives them reliable support and assistance.
We try our best to accommodate all placement requests. However, placement at a specific school is NOT guaranteed.
