Volunteer opportunity description

Program Description: Suited for Work is an innovative program at FEGS Health & Human Services providing individuals unable to afford business attire with the new, interview-appropriate clothing they need to secure employment. While our clients are ready and eager to start work, many face difficulty pursuing employment opportunities simply because they lack access to the professional clothing that is required for a job interview.  The program, staffed entirely by volunteers, provides more than a suit to our clients. It represents to them a new start: it is the chance to return to work, to improve their families’ quality of life, to act as role models for their children, and, ultimately, to break the cycle of poverty.

Position Description: Volunteers are needed to do inventory and occassionally staff the Suited for Work store.  Store volunteers organize and maintain the clothing store, and on occassion work with clients to help them choose the appropriate clothes for their employment.

An ideal store volunteer would not mind doing inventory and enjoy interacting with community members as well as possess the desire to work for the improvement of the community.  Training is provided.

Inventory and database volunteers may have a more flexible schedule.
