Girls Inc. of NYC is excited to announce its new partnership with The Young Women's Leadership School of the Bronx!!

The addition of this new comprehnsive site includes almost 200 vivacious middle school girls and a broad variety of clubs to get them excited about after school! Below are just a few of the club descritions girls were given.

Program hours: Monday-Friday 2:50 Pm - 5:55 PM

Eco Girls: Do you want to start your own business? Do you have an idea that will better the community? Do you like to make things grow? Join Eco Girls and learn about economics, entrepreneurship and the environment.

Shades: Do you love hip-hop? Every time you hear a song, do you naturally begin to choreograph dance moves?  Shade is a newborn dance club just for you.

Lingo Leaders: What kind of leader are you?  Are you a future lawyer? Can you see yourself running for elected office? Lingo Leaders is the place where you can develop your sense of power through the use of your words.

Instaglam Vanguard: A great club for aspiring journalists, reporters and photographers. Want to write reviews of the latest books, movies and albums? Girls in this club will help take the school paper to the next level.

Girls Who Code: In this new club, you will learn how to code! We will have fun doing all sorts of activities that will support our learning involving coding and technology!  Having this skill will be invaluable in the upcoming years as computer technology advances and becomes an even more important part of our world!

Volunteer role/ responsibilities:

  • Supervise and participate in activities with girls ages 10-14
  • Support Girls Inc. of NYC staff in administering Girls Inc. activities and curriculum
  • Provide a safe and supportive space for all girls
  • Organize, lead, and promote student interest and participation in the activities offered by the program
  • Foster an atmosphere of fun and learning while serving as a role model to youth


  • Demonstrated interest in youth development, education and gender equality
  • Must be willing to commit to at least one day a week for the duration of one semester
  • High School Degree required. AA or BA in progress preferred.
  • The position requires a love of learning, flexibility, creativity, energy and passion for inspiring girls to be strong, smart, bold

Must pass background investigation including but not limited to fingerprinting, employment history, and criminal background check.
