Description & History

Telem is a nonprofit providing children of African descent an opportunity to celebrate their cultural heritage, invoke a sense of pride in their ancestry, and increase their self esteem through recreational camping activities, cultural and educational programs throughout the year. Telem Camp- is an annual three-day culture camp for children of African descent, ages 5-16. This camp provides a fun and safe haven for children of African descent to connect with each other, celebrate their shared heritage, and embrace their African values in a multicultural context. Telem Camp is committed to promoting a cross-cultural exchange of ideas and experiences among participants. Activities include arts & crafts, African drumming & dance, swimming, sports and photography. Telem also offers community building, cultural events educational enrichment and leadership development programs.
