Description & History

Brooklyn Lifelong Learning is a member-run organization, well-suited to offer educational and cultural programs distinctly geared to the needs and interests of the participants. Our membership includes retired and semi-retired adults from diverse backgrounds. These members are the backbone of the organization. They know that as people live longer, healthier lives, there is a growing need to enrich and enhance the retirement years. BLL promotes communication, socialization and a sense of community among its participants. It fills an essential role in meeting this need for retired Brooklynites.

BLL presents over 60 academic, artistic and recreational courses each year. It also offers numerous lectures, concerts and performances, either directly or by providing access to programs offered by Brooklyn College and other cultural venues throughout NYC. BLL organizes trips for its members, both locally and as far afield as New Orleans. It also offers the opportunity to teach, both to those who spent a lifetime in the profession and to those who just want to try it.
