Description & History

Minds Matter is a three year program that begins in students’ sophomore year of high school. We offer students a combination of individualized mentor support and group instruction that provides students with the resources, information and guidance they need to gain admission to, enroll in and graduate from four-year colleges. Students then spend three years working with volunteer mentors, writing coaches, SAT tutors and college advisors to navigate the path to college.

Mentors meet with their student every Saturday during the school year (roughly 23 Saturdays/per year) and build a strong and lasting relationship over the 3 year journey. Minds Matter NYC has over 500 active volunteers who dedicate more than 23,000 hours every year.
