Volunteer opportunity description

Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in Brooklyn!

Over three years ago, Superstorm Sandy flooded parts of coastal Staten Island. Habitat for Humanity NYC's Critical Home Repair program has been helping families rebuild, but many Staten Island homes are still in dire need of repair before their owners can return home.

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do and we need YOU to help us continue making an impact throughout NYC!

As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to:

  • Make your own schedule - volunteer as little or as much as you would like
  • Receive on-site training in construction - learn new skills or enhance the ones you already have
  • Meet other volunteers committed to affordable housing
  • Give back to your community in an amazing way
  • Make a positive difference in the lives of others

No construction experience is necessary -- just enthusiasm! Come prepared to haul, dig, measure, cut, pound, raise, demolish or clean -- and see real results.

How to sign up:

To learn more before signing up, visit our website ( OR create a profile on volunteerhub ( and sign up for a volunteer orientation. Please note: orientations are optional and are not required for construction volunteers.

If you are ready to start making a difference, simply create a profile on volunteerhub (, click on "Construction" to see all of our available volunteer opportunities, and pick a day that works with your schedule.

We hope to see you out on site soon!

Must wear work boots and long pants. Ages 16-17 may volunteer with a signed waiver from a parent or guardian.
