NYC Service COVID-19 Response Efforts

What is NYC Service doing?

NYC Service leads the Volunteer Coordination Taskforce (VCTF), a partnership with NYC Emergency Management, New York Cares and other partners to centralize and coordinate volunteer efforts during emergencies. The VCTF supports organizations in need of volunteers to provide critical services – such as meal delivery – to vulnerable residents and works to identify volunteer opportunities that residents can support, with the understanding that the safety and well-being of all residents is a top priority.

Organizations and volunteers should always refer to nyc.gov/coronavirus to maintain personal and public health and review the most up to date information on COVID-19.

How do I volunteer?

We are working with our VCTF partner, New York Cares, to assess a safe volunteer response to those most impacted by COVID-19.

If you are interested in learning about available opportunities to volunteer, complete the New York Cares COVID-19 Relief Efforts form to share your information and hear more about opportunities to serve as they arise.

My community-based organization needs volunteers or has volunteers interested in supporting other efforts. Who do I speak to about this?

Community-based organizations in need of volunteer support to deliver critical services to New Yorkers should complete the Community Partner Project In-take Form, and our VCTF partner, New York Cares, will reach out and may connect you to volunteers. You can also complete this survey if you have volunteers interested in supporting other needs across the city.

Is my organization considered "essential"?

Guidance was provided to clarify whether a non-profit entity is considered "essential", as per Executive Order 202.6. Review the guidelines.
