About This Initiative

NYC Service brought together volunteer organizations to maximize productivity and efficiency of citywide efforts by defining the specialty areas for each group, defining a standard terminology (i.e. “muck-out”) for the most common needs requested, and coordinating data collection and sharing among the volunteer groups.

To date NYC Service has engaged over 17,000 volunteers in over 115 service projects since Hurricane Sandy.
NYC Service is continuously identifying projects in communities impacted by Hurricane Sandy to help with rebuilding and revitalization efforts.
