- New agency partners can request up to $50,000
- Returning agency partners can request up to $100,000
Agencies can utilize funding for one or more of the following initiatives:
- Temporary staffing to build volunteer program sustainability (e.g. Americorps Member - $5k per member)
- Materials and tools to manage a volunteer program
- Volunteer background checks, tools or technology, or gear
- Food and beverages for volunteer events or event space

If you applied to become an Americorps Host Site in 2026 and indicated you wanted Service Bureau funding to support a member, you are already under consideration and do not need to apply again. Overview and History of NYC Service Bureau
As a division of the Mayor’s Office committed to promoting civic engagement through volunteerism and service, NYC Service has a history of partnering with City agencies to engage residents as volunteers. Established in 2017, the NYC Service Bureau program builds on that history of partnership by providing funding for City agencies interested in establishing or expanding volunteer programs. More than just a grant program, the Service Bureau is a collaborative volunteer capacity-building model that grew out of NYC Service’s commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in our city through volunteerism.
Technical Support Offered to Grantees:
- Volunteer support coaching
- Training in volunteer program tools and templates
- Training on data collections and narrative building
- Guidance on promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in volunteer outreach and management
