NYC Service AmeriCorps Alumni Study

Nearly 14 years ago, NYC Service launched a single AmeriCorps program to serve our city in a time of economic crisis and insecurity. From that first class to today, over 2300 individuals, including you, have served as members in six different AmeriCorps programs at NYC Service. Through Hurricane Sandy and COVID-19, through times of prosperity and downturn, through 3 Mayoral administrations, NYC Service AmeriCorps members have always been here to serve our city's greatest needs, ensuring that the most vulnerable of our residents have greater access to services.

We also know that you learned and grew during your service term. You built networks and communities and, for some, a career. But we've never had the research to fully understand the impact of an NYC Service experience...until now!

We're excited to announce NYC Service has launched our first-ever longitudinal study across all programs and years intended to help deepen our understanding of the quality of the NYC Service AmeriCorps service experience and its effects on you, our AmeriCorps alumni.  We also have ensured that the survey provides you with an opportunity for reflection on your service.

NYC Service has contracted with Policy Studies Associates (PSA), an independent research firm based in Washington, D.C., to design and conduct this study. The strength of the study depends on the participation of a large and representative group of alumni, so we very much hope that you will participate and use this as an opportunity to reflect on your AmeriCorps service.

We ask that you forward this page to any fellow alums that you may still be in contact with. We also ask that you use this link to update your contact information so that we can reach as many alums at the correct address as possible. We know that hearing from other alums will help more people to be inspired to complete the survey.

The online survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes of your time to complete. Be assured that your responses to this survey will remain strictly CONFIDENTIAL; no one other than the study team will have access to completed surveys and all data will be destroyed at the end of the study.  Finally, PSA will not associate your name or other personally identifying information with your responses, and all reports will be based on aggregated data.
